Designing around how TomTom really works

This workplace was designed around the major shift TomTom was undergoing in how it works and what that meant for its environments. For the first time, real importance was placed on expressing TomTom's personality and values in a way the business had not previously explored, with more recreational areas, a bright, genuinely fun atmosphere and comfortable seating all part of the brief. Drawing on a long-standing relationship, Woodalls worked from executive level through to Gen Z and recent joiners, anticipating the many perspectives that would test the design.
Arrival into this bright office is defined by a sweeping city view and a relaxed waiting area, with meeting space close by so visitors never have to walk far.

Acoustic treatment lines the ceiling while deliberately disarranged lighting keeps the space visually interesting, giving the office a playful, characterful rhythm rather than a uniform, corporate grid.

Vivid oranges, pops of blue and deep greys against warm oak floors bring the office together, feeling more energetic and characterful than a conventional workplace, with a clear sense of TomTom's identity.

More than an office, TomTom's Berlin home is a reflection of the brand itself — bright, characterful and genuinely fun, designed to flex from focused work to downtime and everything in between.

A workplace with identity and warmth

At the centre of the office sits a games area with a snooker table and a football table, wrapped with comfortable seating. It offers an enjoyable way to round off the day with colleagues or let the competitive spirit flow during breaks, a distinctive setting for teambuilding and informal connection. From there, the workplace opens into a dynamic environment supporting many functions, from quiet solitude in the nap room to a relaxed café and everything in between, each zone tuned to a different mode of work or rest so the office flexes around its people.

Creating a workplace with identity and warmth was something that we craved, and Woodalls delivered this magnificently. Much time was spent consulting, listening and anticipating the function of the office going forward, and we are blown away.
